Dear Jim
Marti Kaderli, at the Nimitz Foundation, has given me your name as coordinator of the Memorial Day Programs at the Museum. Our Association presented a plaque this year and have arranged for a floral tribute each Memorial Day. We have no local members and so can plan on no one locally to represent us at that event. Our ship was in commission during World War Two only, was decommissioned in 1946, and consigned to the scrap heap a few years later. As a result, our membership is aging and diminishing as time goes by.
Marti suggests that I forward to you a brief history of USS Euryale and one is enclosed.
One of our sons is a Navy officer, and we have had the pleasure of visiting in Hawaii a few times and, while there, visiting USS Missouri. You should be proud of her.
Thanks very much.
Sincerely yours
For the USS Euryale Association
