Minutes of Annual Meeting, October 19, 2004
Special Issue, October, 2004

1. Meeting called to order at 4:30 PM by President Ostapeck.
2. The Treasurer’s Report was read by Secretary/Treasurer Bradfield and accepted.
3. President Ostapeck expressed thanks to Bill Bradfield who planned the meeting.
Particular thanks went to Sheri and Dennis Lytle, who provided audio support, new name badges, attractive posters for the meeting, and a CD of 1940’s music and a World War Two Poster for each attendee.
4. Bill Bradfield reported that the two memorial plaques were paid for. The one in San Antonio will be dedicated this week at the Museum of the Pacific War in Fredericksburg, Texas with appropriate ceremonies. The one in Washington, DC, at the U.S.Navy Memorial Foundation, is in place but we do not plan a formal dedication ceremony there. (For visitors, the USN Foundation is at 701 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW.)
5. We were saddened to learn than Jim Reisch, our former Secretary/Treasurer, was taken ill and thus was unable to attend. Please let him hear from you.
6. With all Reunion bills paid, the Secretary/Treasurer reports that he will have a GORGON mailing (our last) to accomplish and refunds to make to those who were unable to come after making cash reservations. We have received refunds from the hotel and Brad will make appropriate refunds.
There will be a surplus after those things are done. It was voted that any such “terminal surplus” be paid out in a grant of $1,500 to a new exhibit, commemorating the submarine war in the Pacific, being planned for the Fredericksburg Museum. Our Association will be shown as a contributing donor .This gift will also provide a remembrance of a wreath of flowers at the EURYALE Plaque on each Memorial Day in the future. Remaining funds, if any, will be given to the United States Navy Submarine Museum in New London (this may amount to $1,000). A report of the actual final amount will be posted in a Treasurer’s Report on the EURYALE website.
7. President Ostapeck presented Bill Bradfield with a handsome plaque, expressing the thanks of the Association for Bill’s service in our various offices and for organizing several of our reunions and the Plaque presentations.
Moved more than I wanted to show by this unexpected event, I wish I had been able to adequately thank everyone for this gift. Believe it or not, I was at a loss for words! I have loved doing it and wish the calendar could keep us in a state of suspended animation for more get-togethers. Not possible- but let’s stay in touch.
8. The meeting was adjourned, sine die, at 5:15 PM on October 19, 2004
Respectfully submitted: William Bradfield, Secretary/Treasurer.
